And then there was Tesla (motors)

Most that know us understand we’re pretty hard core Nikola Tesla fans. So, it’s not a difficult leap to imagine we’re also fans of the Electric Vehicle company that borrows his name and technology to make amazing sports sedans (to date.. Cross over coming soon).Β  I’ve been in a few Tesla Studios, and each time have to pose with various Tesla gear so they can photo my Nikola Tesla tattoo.. πŸ™‚

We’ve been keeping an eye on Tesla Motors for a while and drooling over their offerings… deciding to pass them over for each vehicle purchase over the past few years in favor of more ‘flat-tow’ friendly vehicles. Our thought was that dealing with an enclosed trailer in addition to the RV and car would be more hassle than it was worth.

In recent weeks, we’ve been doing more research on the subject and talking with those that trailer a vehicle behind their RV. From what we’ve found.. it doesn’t seem our original assessment was accurate. One couple we spoke with said that they’ve been to 2500 RV Parks across the country, and never had an issue. Now, it’s obvious that many parks don’t have space for you to have the trailer On-Site w/ your rig… but it seems all of them were able to accommodate storage of the trailer within the park.. and even go so far as to placing the trailer into and out of the storage for you! This realization has brought us right back to Elon’s EVs.

Tesla Test Drive

This past weekend, we were fortunate enough to be availed to an extended test drive of a Tesla Model S 90D (almost the exact config we’d like to have). I must say.. if you’re not serious about drop’n the $$ on such a vehicle.. don’t go drive one.. It’ll flip you real quick and spoil you on any Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicle. When I took the Model S back and picked up our Jeep.. It was an immediate realization that I must have one of these EVs.

Thus, I present to you.. a render of our new Tesla Model S 90D. We have this unit on order with an estimated delivery of “late October”. We still have a few days to change things and/or cancel the order, but we’re at the 95% confidence mark and are super excited about the possibility.Β  Special thanks to Matt @ the Las Vegas Tesla Studio for his help along the way!

  1. This new job must be paying you a LOT of money!!! Beautiful car….

    1. Haha… This isn’t the “Performance” version with “Ludicrous” mode.. (that one goes 0-60 in 2.8 seconds! …but is $30k more πŸ™ ).. So this is the normal one, but does 0-60 in 4.2 seconds πŸ™‚ So it’s still quicker than the SRT Dodge Charger that I had back in NC (0-60 in 4.8 seconds). So.. I’ll still be obeying the speed limits just the same amount I do now.. I’ll just get to my top speed quicker.. πŸ˜€
