- Hello all,
- Been a while, we know… We’ve been dormant on the blog for way too long, but that’s about to change. Let me catch you up. ( Be aware, this is a long, photo and map laden post. We aim to have more, smaller updates moving forward! )
We arrived in Arizona on Saturday. It was a long day of driving for me but uneventful.
The park is nice and quiet. We have great views and we are looking forward to exploring the area — but first HOCKEY.
We are going to Glendale tomorrow to tick Gila Arena off the must see list. One of my bucket list items “See a hockey game in all NHL arenas.”
Already missing Vegas — but we have been in one spot long enough. Time to get back to exploring.
I am a bad girl for not blogging more often but honestly I was too busy having a blast to stop and tell you about it. We took in a lot of shows and I can sum them all up with this one fantastic phrase: A Variety of Sexxy Evil Dead Zombie Chippendale Penis Puppetry and Elvis.
Why? Because VEGAS BABY!!
Saturday my cousin and I went to the Women’s Holiday Expo and we met Bella LaRocca. Bella decided to do something positive to help those less fortunate in her community. “The Blessing Club” provides backpacks filled with day to day essentials that are in such demand but often overlooked.
The Blessing Club is based on the dream of a nine year old girl, named Bella LaRocca who had a vision of helping the less fortunate in our community. Through her compassion and the love of her family, she found herself volunteering with a group that fed the hungry and homeless. While interacting with the less fortunate, she noticed the stress of those receiving food and clothing and the difficulty transporting all their belongs in ripped grocery bags. While preparing to start the school year, Bella had her AHA! moment…why not provide “backpacks” to the less fortunate?
These backpacks would include everyday necessities such as socks, underwear, toiletries and hygiene products.
The Blessing Club allows children the opportunity to make a difference and pave the way for all of our children to make this world a better place. We have ongoing projects, outings and events to support valuable life lessons such as managing money, understanding life goals, gratitude and respect for others. It is through parent involvement and family participation that our club will be successful. While we are learning the lesson of compassion we will be distributing backpacks filled with simple necessities to those amongst us in need.
I love the weather in Las Vegas — it is generally dry with cloud free skies. But as long as I don’t have to drive in it, a rain storm in the desert is amazing. Since there isn’t a lot of rain out here the roads get extremely slick with the tiniest bit of moisture on them and people have no idea how to drive in the rain.
So I am sitting here listening to Hélène Grimaud and drinking my Cuppa with the windows open and it smells so fresh and clean.
I don’t really think much of the Valentine’s Day hype. I don’t care for cut flowers, I don’t have a lot of room for tchotchkes and the bulk candy that you buy in this country is pretty nasty. BUT spending time with loved ones and having a good time – I am always up for that.
I booked a room at the Flamingo in Las Vegas and the four of us had a tremendous time.
Saturday morning the fun continued with buffet breakfast and bird watching – WHITE CASTLE on the Strip – naps and then onto Tony and Tina’s Wedding.
Followed by a trip to Paris.
Thanks to The Heinlen Family for all of the great memories!! xoxoxox
